Issue 2 is finally out! Whew, after a long, half-year delay (thanks, shitty economy), the Bad Date Zine issue 2 is now for sale! Please check it out at the Monkey + Seal website!

In other news, we're now accepting submissions for issue 3! Woo!

So here's the lowdown on submitting to the zine:

Here are the submission details:

Please submit your true Bad Date Stories to thebaddatezine@gmail.com
Please try and limit your stories to 3 pages of single-spaced text, but if your story goes longer, that's cool too.
These are rolling submissions, so submit now! If you need a deadline, you've got two weeks to get your act together and submit, so start working on it now!

What am I looking for? I'm looking for humorous, poignant, touching, or just plain ridiculous stories of bad dates, bad attempts to be picked up at bars, hookups gone wrong, etc., etc. I do strongly prefer that the cause of a bad date is the person's behavior/personality, not some physical "flaw." Additionally, if anyone wants to fess up and admit how they were a bad date, you get extra points.

So I doubt there are a ton of people reading this, but for those loyal, die-hard fans that lurk out there, submit!

I'm going to start posting up flyers soon...if anyone is interested in helping distribution of such advertisements, please email: thebaddatezine [at] gmail.com and depending on where you are I can either email you a file to print out or perhaps drop off copies if you're local to San Francisco (and not too far away).

I originally (ambitiously) printed 50 copies of the 1st Issue of The Bad Date Zine. I am now down to 2 copies, selling about 2/week on the Etsy shop. Since Issue 2 is not due out for another few months, and I haven't even had a chance to get around to zine shops/independent bookstores, what do you people think? A 2nd print?

Thanks to such an amazing response to the 1st Issue, I will most definitely be compiling stories for the next issue of The Bad Date Zine!

So, we are now taking submissions for Issue 2!

The deadline is midnight, PST, November 7th (I want to give time for any bad Halloween dates that may occur).

Thank you to everyone who came out to the SF Zine Fest!
It was a huge success for us, and we nearly sold out of the first run of Issue 1 of The Bad Date Zine!

Thank you to everyone that submitted stories, and thanks to everyone who bought a copy!
If you are interested in purchasing a copy, please go to www.monkeyandseal.etsy.com and pick one up! They are $3 plus s/h.

Contributors that didn't pick up their copy at the zine fest will be sent out Tuesday via USPS!

Additionally, we are taking rolling submissions for the next issue, which I imagine will probably be published in November or so. Hopefully, if submissions keeps coming in and the demand is there, this zine will be able to continue as a quarterly publication.

The Bad Date Zine 1st issue ever

Thank you to all who submitted for the first issue of the Bad Date Zine. The Bad Date Zine will be sold at the SF Zine Fest on July 19+20 at the Monkey + Seal table.

Hopefully we'll get these into other independent bookstores and zine shops, and after the Zine Fest they should be sold online through our friends at Monkey + Seal on Etsy, but their site isn't up yet, but check back for updates.
